Our First Commenting Challenge

Boys and Girls,
Today we talked about posting a quality comment. Remembering the tips we discussed, try posting your first comment here. I would like for you to share a fact or two that you have learned at your Exploratory Center. What project are you working on? Which projects are you hoping to do at this center?

  1. Dear Mrs. Koch,
Thanks for helping me out with Exploratory. I`m doing the Monet Center. These are some of my facts:
    *November 14, 1840 is when
    Claude Monet was born.
*1855 is when Monet was a student.
*1862 is when Monet left Le Havre to study art in Paris.

I feel proud and happy that I`m doing the center. What am I going to do on the analysis level?

  2. Dear Mrs. Koch,
I am doing the Wild Cats Center!
Big cats cannot purr. Little cats
cannot roar. I think this center is really fun.

  3. Dear Mrs. Koch,
I am doing the Exploratory Color Center. I know all the wave colors in order. They are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. How many colors are there in all?

  4. Hi Mrs. Koch,
I am doing Capsela. I hope you make a vehicle Exploratory? I learned how to make electricity.

  5. Hi Mrs. Koch,
I want to share with you that people in China eat caterpillars! I learned that from a video in my Exploratory Center. My Exploratory center is Butterflies. Do you know anything about butterflies?

  6. Zachary,
I'm glad you are enjoying the Monet Center. I have always liked his paintings and style of art work. I think your timeline information is wonderful! First graders usually have more trouble finding facts to include in a timeline. Let's be sure you try to put all of the facts in your own words. I'm not sure what you will do for your Analysis task. Let's talk about it after you finish the timeline project. This one will take you a few more SAGE days if you do a good quality job.

  7. Hi Cora,
Thank you for sharing some facts you are learning at the Wild Cats Center. Is there a project you are excited about doing at this center? I really like leopards. The sound of their voice is so deep and interesting when they growl. What is your favorite breed of wild cat?

  8. Hi Abby,
Mr. T. will be impressed when he finds out a first grader knows all of the wave colors! I really liked your color wheel. You did a great job mixing all of your colors. I think there are an infinite (endless) number of colors because you can always change the shade or hue by adding a little more or less of the colors you are mixing. What is your favorite color?

  9. Dear Caleb,
You are doing a great job on your Capsela models. Do you like to build things at home too? I would think you would be very good with Legos and Tinker Toys. I have never thought of doing a vehicle center. What kinds of things would you like to learn about in this center?

  10. Hi Camila,
I'm glad you are enjoying the Butterflies Center. You are very creative and artistic. I am excited to see how your finished projects. What an interesting fact! I did not know that people eat caterpillars in China. I wonder if that is a regular food item that most people eat, or if it is an unusual thing that only a few people eat? It doesn't sound very tasty to me, but I guess I wouldn't really know since I have not tried them. Did they cook them or eat them raw? If you went to China, would you be willing to taste a caterpillar?

  11. I like to build both big and small, lots of different kinds of vehicles. I ususally build with Legos or K'nex, but I have built lots of stuff with cardboard, tape, and staples.

In a vehicle exploratory, I would like to know what makes a vehicle move. I would also like to know why each tire has to have a joint in between them. How many types of cars are made in the world? Why do people have junked-up cars in a Monster Truck contest? I like where they slam together. How does the motor run?
